Justin Bieber made his return to the Grammy Awards stage after a four-year absence, but it wasn’t his performance that had everyone talking. The 31-year-old singer appeared at the 2026 ceremony in Los Angeles sporting a close-cropped buzzcut that revealed what many observers believe could be evidence of another hair transplant procedure.
The pop star’s new look featured a distinctly defined hairline with noticeably shorter hair along the front. In close-up images shared online, Bieber’s hairline appeared lower and more clearly delineated compared to recent public appearances.
Despite taking the stage in an unconventional outfit of gym shorts without a shirt, it was the cropped hairstyle that dominated online conversation.
Budget airline RyanAir joined the commentary with a viral post on X, formerly Twitter, writing “Should have gone to Turkey,” a reference to the country’s popular cosmetic procedure tourism industry.
The father of one, who shares a son with wife Hailey Bieber, has never publicly confirmed undergoing any hair restoration procedures. Nevertheless, the speculation has been intense, with fans divided in their assessments.
“Thought it was pretty common knowledge that he had a hair transplant,” one social media user commented.
Another stated, “I can recognize a poorly done hair transplant from a mile away.”
However, many supporters came to Bieber’s defense, questioning why male cosmetic procedures draw scrutiny while similar treatments for women are normalized. “If all the women in the industry can get lip filler and Bo tox and surgery how is this a problem if Justin did a hair transplant?” one fan wrote.
Others disputed the hair transplant theory altogether. “I don’t think that’s a hair transplant. People with hair transplants avoid buzz cuts at all costs,” one observer noted. Another supporter joked, “Bieber been getting roasted for his hair since he was 12, you think he gives a f**k about this?”
This marks the second time in recent years that the Grammy Award winner has faced hair transplant speculation. In 2024, beach photographs showed him with notably thick hair after years of frequently wearing hats or hoodies in public appearances.
New York-based Dr. Gary Linkov, who has not treated Bieber, analyzed publicly available images on social media, suggesting changes in the singer’s hairline between 2018 and 2023.
“A few years prior to that in 2018, he had a definite recession, very scalloped frontal hairline. [But] now it’s flatter onto his forehead, much more linear,” he explained in his assessment.
Last year, additional beach photos sparked further discussion when images appeared to show thinning hair at the back of Bieber’s head, leading to mixed reactions online. While some expressed surprise at the apparent hair loss at age 31, others pointed out that such changes are typical for adults in their thirties.
“Usually it’s like 26. He made it longer than most,” one commenter noted.
Another added, “Teenagers discovering that grown adults experience body changes as they age will never not be funny to me.”
