Brendan Schaub weighs in on Akaash’s Wife situation

Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen recently addressed the controversy surrounding comedian Akaash Singh and his wife on their podcast, with both hosts expressing support for Singh while acknowledging the difficult position he finds himself in.

The situation has sparked widespread discussion in the comedy community after clips of Singh’s wife discussing personal matters on podcasts began circulating online.

In the recent episode of The Fighter and The Kid Podcast, Schaub made it clear from the outset that he wouldn’t be joining the bandwagon hating on Singh, stating: “Yeah, I’m not going to jump in on this bandwagon hating on Akaash. I can’t imagine how he feels by the way.”

He acknowledged that Singh is currently being “dog piled on” with hate, though noted that many people are “mostly feeling sorry for him” rather than attacking him directly.

The primary criticism appears to be coming from podcast host Myron Gaines, who took issue with Singh’s previous criticism of his content.

Bryan Callen was particularly emphatic in his defense of Singh, explaining why comedians deserve empathy in situations like this. “Let me say something about someone like Akaash and being a comic,” Callen said. “At the end of the day, Akaash is funny because he’s an artist, cuz he’s a sensitive guy, because he’s a good guy.” He emphasized that Singh shouldn’t be targeted simply because he’s successful, adding, “He’s a good f**king guy.”

However, both hosts suggested that Singh needs to have a serious conversation with his wife about sharing personal information publicly. Schaub advised, “Have a talk with his wife though, for sure… being that free about everything, it just f**k things up for me.” He suggested Singh should ask his wife to consider how her public statements might provide ammunition to people who aren’t rooting for him.

Callen emphasized the importance of loyalty in marriage, saying, “When you’re married, I would say having each other’s back is the is the most important at all cost.” Schaub echoed this sentiment, adding, “I call my wife my ride or die. I’m defending that woman to the end.”

The controversy stems from old clips resurfacing after Singh criticized Myron Gaines’ podcast content years ago, with Gaines now responding as Singh’s wife’s statements have become public. Despite acknowledging the complexity of the situation, both Schaub and Callen maintained their support for Singh.
