Instagram influencer Lauren Blake, who has approximately 1.5 million followers, has found herself at the center of a major controversy after being called out for using AI to fabricate her presence at high-profile events.
The situation came to light when fellow creator Tatiana Elizabeth noticed that a photo Lauren had posted, geotagged at the Miami Open, was strikingly familiar. That is because it was essentially Tatiana’s own photo from the US Open, taken two years prior, with Lauren’s face swapped onto Tatiana’s body.
The outfit, the watch, the bag, the angle, and even the background were identical. The only difference was the face.

Tatiana first flagged the issue on social media, writing, “Bar for bar, the weirdest part about this, it’s not even an AI influencer. This is a real person who used AI to put her head on my body. She geotagged Miami as if she’s at the Miami Open when my photo was taken at the US Open 2 years ago.”

Additionally, her video calling out Lauren quickly amassed over four million views.
What made the situation particularly significant to Tatiana was the personal meaning behind the original photo.
“I got invited to the US Open by Serena Williams. That was an experience that was a privilege to go due to my hard work that I’ve put in over the past 8 years. It’s not just an image of me there,” she explained in an interview. “To just take that and put your head on top of it is crazy.”
After the video went viral, Lauren reached out to Tatiana via direct message, apologizing and attributing the post to her content team. “What happened was not intentional whatsoever, but my team and I have been experimenting with AI tools for my content workflow, and this was a huge wakeup call for me,” Lauren wrote.

Lauren also released a public statement on Instagram after deleting the original post, saying, “I want to address a recent post created by a third-party AI content agency I’ve been working with. It was brought to my attention that an image posted utilized the work and likeness of a Black creator in a way that is entirely inconsistent with my values. I take full responsibility for what appears on my platforms.”

Tatiana, however, was not satisfied with the response. “I don’t think that it’s coming from a super sincere place. I think that she just wants the situation to blow over,” she told in her interview, adding that she does not accept the apology.
