Joe Rogan on Critics: I Decided Two Days Ago, I’m Never Reading It Anymore

UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan recently made a definitive statement about his relationship with social media and online criticism during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with guest Raul Bilecky.

“I decided two days ago, I’m not going back. I’ll go back to post things. I’m never reading it anymore,” Rogan declared when discussing his approach to social media.

He explained that he has gone on a social media hiatus over the last few days and feels notably better for it.

The conversation arose while discussing the contentious online debates surrounding archaeological discoveries, particularly the Nazca mummies. Rogan’s guest Bilecky acknowledged being drawn into the negativity, stating, “I’ve been sucked into the Nazca mummies thing, sucked me into the back and forth on X.”

When describing the toxic nature of social media discourse, he painted a vivid picture of the platform’s darker side. “It’s so toxic, man,” Bilecky said, noting how people become entrenched in their positions regardless of evidence.

He explained that even when there is overwhelming evidence supporting one perspective, opposing groups will persist with their viewpoints, creating an endless cycle of conflict.

Rogan expressed concern about social media’s impact on society, suggesting it fundamentally alters human psychology. “I just think that it’s altering the collective psychological foundation of our society,” he said.

He connected this phenomenon to the increasingly polarized and confrontational behavior observable both online and in real-world protests and interactions.

Rogan stated,”That’s what makes sense when you see like crazy protests and crazy people online. It’s like everyone’s getting there’s something that’s happening to them.”

Despite stepping back from reading comments and engaging in debates, Rogan emphasized he still stays informed through trusted sources.

“I’ll find my news. People send me enough stuff as it is. My friends send me things,” he explained, noting that he remains aware of current events without directly consuming social media content.
