Pastor Todd Hall left viewers surprised during a recent church service when he made an extraordinary financial appeal to his congregation. In a moment captured on video, Hall claimed God instructed him to create a “multi multi-millionaire” from among his audience, but only if someone donated $10,000 within 90 seconds.
The controversial moment occurred during an ADR prophetic conference at Hall’s church in Apopka, Florida. Wearing a designer suit, Hall addressed the room with urgency: “The Lord said I want to make a multi multi-millionaire out of someone but they have to sow $10,000. And they have to do that within 90 seconds.”
Hall, who has become a familiar figure in discussions about prosperity gospel teachings, didn’t stop at the $10,000 request. He also challenged 30 people to give $200 each, and even suggested that wealthy congregants should fund those unable to afford the offering themselves.
The pastor’s tactics grew increasingly pressing as the 90-second deadline approached. When hesitation emerged from the audience, Hall reportedly began making specific claims about individuals, including references to their shopping habits and phone carriers.
“I see the two people that have the 10 grand trying to ignore me,” he stated. “I’m not in it for your money. I probably have more than you.”
Hall also told congregants he didn’t care where they obtained the money, saying: “In order for me to get this 10,000, I got to go to a special account. I don’t care where you got to go.”
The pastor even played a clip from comedian Katt Williams during the service, apparently to reinforce his message about tithing and giving.
Critics point out that Hall’s approach contradicts traditional biblical teaching on charitable giving, which emphasizes voluntary contributions made freely without pressure. The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 9 that each person should give “as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.”
Throughout the appeal, Hall made additional promises to those who gave, claiming God would “show you my face” and that “everywhere the soul of your feet shall trod, you shall possess the land.”
The incident raises ongoing concerns about financial exploitation within certain religious communities, particularly those promoting prosperity gospel theology. Hall’s aggressive solicitation tactics, including countdown timers and public pressure, represent what many consider problematic fundraising methods that prioritize monetary gain over spiritual guidance.
When resistance continued, Hall acknowledged his frustration: “I am having a very bad day. I am in no mood. This today is one of the worst days that I’ve had in a long time.”
The video serves as a reminder for congregants to carefully evaluate financial requests from religious leaders and to ensure their giving aligns with their own values and financial capabilities rather than high-pressure sales tactics.
