UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell made controversial statements about the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump during a recent appearance on Tim Welch’s podcast. The Arkansas native shared his belief that the widely reported incident was staged.
Mitchell opened up about his thought process following the incident at a Trump rally. “When Trump got shot, I prayed. I said, ‘God, this can’t be real. Show me what’s real. Show me what’s real,'” Mitchell explained.
He continued “After months and months of praying on it, God told me that wasn’t real. He didn’t really get shot. This whole thing’s a setup. This whole thing’s a setup. He was acting like he got shot so that he would radicalize the country to vote for him. He’s a puppet put in place.”
The UFC star elaborated on his skepticism regarding the physical evidence. “To get sh ot in the ear, I’ve shot things with g*ns and when you sho ot it, even if you hit this part of your ear, it just leaves a hole or an incision. And I’m just telling you, man, there’s nothing there. Especially, there’s not a mark there.”
Mitchell drew on his personal experience to support his position. “You know, I’ve shot things with even as little as an AR and it’s… And I mean you’re going to get a hole this big, you know, even on an AR. And to tell me that Trump’s ear got hit by a bullet, there’s no grazing of, there’s no marks. There’s no nothing. I don’t believe it.”
The conversation arose when discussing how to discern truth on social media. Welch asked Mitchell how he determines what to believe online, prompting Mitchell’s response about the Trump incident as an example of his discernment process.
Mitchell connected his skepticism to truth and deception. “We have to make up our minds. What am I going to believe is true and what is not? Because truth is so important. And anybody that says, ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter,’ they’re wrong. Truth matters. And if you believe so much as one thing that’s untrue, you need to try to check yourself and value the truth.”
