US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order on shower head water pressure

Current President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at reversing regulations that limit water pressure in shower heads and other household water appliances.

During a signing ceremony, Trump criticized the Biden administration for what he described as a “war on showers” through regulations that “killed the water pressure of showers and other water appliances.”

The executive order seeks to roll back these regulations, allowing consumers more choice in the market. “We’re effectively going to be reversing that set of regulations to ensure that Americans have choice in the consumer market,” Trump stated. “If they want a low-flow shower head, they can buy one. If they want a real-deal shower head, they should have the ability to get one.”

Trump has long been vocal about his frustration with water-saving fixtures. During the signing, he complained about restrictions on water flow in new homes, claiming developers are required to install restrictors that are welded in and cannot be removed.

“You buy a new house, you pay a lot of money, and the developers, you’re not allowed to do anything more,” Trump said.

He specifically mentioned the inconvenience of low water pressure when showering, stating, “I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair. I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”

The president also argued that water-saving devices might actually lead to greater water usage, saying, “You end up washing your hands five times longer. So, it’s the same water.”

Trump expressed hope that Congress would approve the changes so they would be “memorialized” in law.

The executive order represents another move in the ongoing regulatory battle over household appliance standards, which has seen multiple changes across different administrations in recent years.
