Actor and comedian Kevin James recently claimed to have completed a 41-and-a-half-day fast, consuming only water and electrolytes.
During his appearance on Joe Rogan podcast, James shared details of his extensive fasting journey when asked about his longest period without food.
“41 and a half,” James responded when questioned about his fasting duration, startling the host who sought clarification on whether he had truly gone over 40 days without consuming any food.
James confirmed the extreme fast, explaining his minimal intake during this period: “Water and a little salt in the water, like electrolytes.” When pressed about whether he supplemented with vitamins or other nutrients, James emphasized, “Nothing.”
The “King of Queens” star explained the science behind his approach in simple terms. “It’s like, well, how are you going to survive? Your body eats fat. That’s it. That’s what it was doing,” he stated.
According to James, his energy levels remained relatively stable throughout the fast, though not without challenges. “I was pretty good. And then you’d have these dips and you’d feel like, wow, I feel miserable. I’m off. I’m done. The next day you wake up, you’re like, I’m okay,” he described.
Health experts typically advise against extended fasting without medical supervision, as prolonged periods without food can lead to various health complications including muscle loss, electrolyte imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies.
James, known for his roles in comedies such as “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “Grown Ups,” has previously discussed his weight fluctuations throughout his career, but this revelation represents his most extreme approach to weight management yet.
Neither James nor his representatives have provided additional details about the timeline of this fast or any medical supervision involved in the process.
