Popular Twitch streamer Emiru was assaulted during a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025, sparking serious concerns about security failures at the event. The incident, which was captured on video, showed a man bypassing multiple barriers to grab and attempt to kiss the content creator before being pushed away by her personal security guard.
In a detailed statement posted on social media, Emiru revealed the disturbing reality behind what happened and directly contradicted Twitch’s official response.
“Yesterday, the man who assaulted me was allowed to cross multiple barriers at twitchcon and even in front of another creators meet and greet to grab me and my face and try to kiss me,” she wrote, adding that while she’s physically okay, she’s “a lot more hurt and upset by how Twitch handled it during and after the fact.”

The streamer highlighted alarming security failures, noting that the only guard who responded was her own hired security—not TwitchCon staff. She revealed that her preferred bodyguard had been banned from the venue after a previous incident where he detained a stalker until police arrived. “There were at least 3 or 4 other Twitchcon security staff in the area who did not react and let the guy walk away,” Emiru stated, emphasizing that only her personal manager and friend checked on her afterward.
Most troubling was Emiru’s direct challenge to Twitch’s official statement. “In Twitch’s statement they said that the guy was immediately caught and detained, I’m sorry but that is a blatant lie,” she wrote. “He was allowed to walk away from my meet and greet and I didn’t hear he was caught until hours after he attacked me, and it felt like this only happened because of my manager pressing for it.”
Emiru also disclosed that she hadn’t initially wanted to do the meet-and-greet but was contractually obligated to participate in order to keep her scheduled show at the event. The assault occurred despite her legitimate safety concerns.
The incident has reignited longstanding criticisms about TwitchCon’s security measures. For years, attendees have reported various safety issues at the convention, and despite Twitch’s promises to strengthen security for the 2025 event, this assault demonstrates those measures fell dramatically short.
In her statement, Emiru announced this would be her last TwitchCon and urged other creators to reconsider attending. “I did not feel cared for or protected, even bringing my own security and staff. I can’t imagine how creators without those options would feel,” she concluded.
The incident raises serious questions about event security and Twitch’s responsibility to protect its content creators at official company events.
