During a recent episode of Steve-O’s podcast featuring comedian Harland Williams, a lengthy discussion about immigration policy emerged.
Steve-O made a provocative claim about immigrants and illegal activities. He stated: “Why is it that so many people who don’t have this respect that you have are m**derers? There’s so many of these people who are illegally in America. It’s like it’s like the majority of them are m**derers.”
Williams immediately pushed back, calling the statement inaccurate. “No, that’s a fallacy. That’s a huge fallacy,” he responded.
He elaborated: “Think about it. Think about seven seven billion people on the planet. What percentage of those human beings and all cultures across the globe would you say are m**derers? Less than 0.1%. How many human beings wake up every day and go, I’m going to take the life of another human. It’s such a small percentage.”
Williams further explained: “Let’s say there’s 30 million illegals. To say that most of them are m**derers, that’s improbable. It’s probably the reality is 0.1% of them are murderers. Now, they’re bad people. They’re m**derers, so they shouldn’t be here, but most of them are not.”
When pressed by Williams about this assertion, Steve-O added: “Well, okay, fair point. But a great many of them are trafficking fe**anyl.”
Williams, who was born in Canada and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen, also shared his personal experience with the immigration process.
“I went through a hell of a lot to get here legally. So when people go, ‘Oh, they’re just undocumented.’ What? No. I went through the whole thing.”
Following the podcast’s release, Steve-O issued a clarification statement on social media, claiming his comments were sarcastic. “I have been just as horrified and saddened by the atrocities committed by ICE as everyone else, so it’s come as a complete surprise to me that anyone thought I was serious when I made an absurd, sarcastic comment about ‘most immigrants being murderers,'” Steve-O wrote.
He continued: “Factually, less than 0.1% of the human population will ever commit homicide, so of course I don’t believe that. If there’s a group of people more likely to murder anyone, it would be ICE agents, not immigrants.”
The exchange and Steve-O’s remarks quickly drew criticism online, with many users accusing him of promoting harmful stereotypes.
A user commented: “Lol, almost every luxury that this s**t head enjoys is predicated on the service and labor of illegal immigrants. Get f**ked Mr. Trustfund baby. He went to the wrong clown college.”
Another wrote: “Tobacco and Pepsi. And it seems like Steve-O spent the majority of his childhood not even living in the US, so I don’t know what makes him so different from any of the people that immigrated with their parents to the US as children and are being targeted now, just that he’s white and rich, I guess.”
