In a recent conversation about looksmaxxing and self-improvement, fitness personality Androgenic addressed what he considers one of the biggest misconceptions in the online optimization community: the carnivore diet.
While the diet has gained significant traction among men seeking physical transformation, Androgenic believes many of its purported benefits are oversold.
“The stuff that carnivore people spout is like, you know, eating a bunch of meat or eating a bunch of raw meat is going to like make your testosterone crazy. You’ll be able to compete with people on TRT. Your skin will be completely magically clear,” Androgenic explained, describing claims commonly made by carnivore diet advocates.
He went on to criticize the assertion that eliminating carbohydrates has minimal impact on muscle building outcomes. “They think that it’ll have a big improvement on looks, especially compared to other similar calorie diets, and it’s just simply not the case,” he stated.
Androgenic, who has been part of the looksmaxxing community for five to six years, placed the carnivore diet alongside thumb pulling and overly prioritizing leanness while neglecting muscle mass as the biggest misconceptions in the space. His perspective comes from years of documented physical transformation, which he says was achieved without surgery through consistent training, proper nutrition, and strategic supplementation.
While Androgenic acknowledges that low carbohydrate approaches can have benefits for achieving facial leanness, he disagrees with the ex treme stance of carnivore proponents. He noted that carbohydrate intake does cause some bloating through insulin response, but emphasized that elevated estrogen levels are a more significant factor in facial bloat than carbohydrate consumption.
Androgenic noted: “I don’t necessarily agree in low carb, depends on what you’re going for because it is going to harm muscle building outcomes. But yes, it will also make you a little bit more bloated through insulin, but that can be combed in other ways. And I don’t think it’s as important as having low estrogen for bloat. That’s going to be the main
kil ler is having high estrogen. ”
The carnivore diet has become particularly popular in certain online communities where men seek to optimize their appearance and hormone levels. Proponents often claim that the diet can dramatically increase testosterone production, improve skin clarity, and enhance overall masculine features. However, critics like Androgenic argue these claims lack scientific support and that the diet may actually hinder muscle building goals.
“It is going to harm muscle building outcomes,” Androgenic said of very low carbohydrate approaches, suggesting that while there may be some aesthetic benefits to reducing carbohydrate intake, completely eliminating this macronutrient comes with significant drawbacks for those interested in building an impressive physique.
