Guy Fieri Was Booked As A Guest On A Comedy Podcast But Had To Cancel After He Went Viral Shaking Andrew Tate’s Hand

When Mark Normand and Sam Morril sat down to record a new episode of their comedy podcast, the guest list looked very different from what audiences eventually saw. Famous restaurateur and television presenter Guy Fieri had been booked to appear. He never showed up.

The reason, as Normand and Morril explained at the top of the episode, traced back to a viral moment that unfolded days earlier at UFC 327. Video footage captured Fieri greeting controversial internet personalities Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate inside the arena. The exchange quickly spread across social media, triggering significant backlash and placing Fieri in the middle of an unexpected controversy.

Morril set the situation up plainly for listeners. He said, “We were supposed to have Guy Fieri on the podcast today. And I guess he shook Andrew Tate’s hand and we didn’t have him.”

With Fieri no longer appearing, comedian Ari Shaffir stepped in as a last-minute replacement. “I guess this isn’t the image rehabilitation pod,” Morril said, poking fun at the unexpected circumstances surrounding the episode.

The Guy Fieri controversy stemmed from a brief encounter captured on video at the Kaseya Center, where Fieri was seen warmly greeting the Tate brothers during the event. Within days, the clip circulated widely online.

As backlash intensified, Fieri took to the social platform X to address the situation directly.

“I’m seeing all of your comments about the photo from Saturday’s UFC event and all I can say is that I’m devastated,” he wrote. “I was there to see the matches and when I was walking through the venue, the Tate brothers stood up and said hello and that’s when the exchange happened. I did not know them or about them before that moment.”

He continued by distancing himself from any perceived association. “I’ll never pretend to be a perfect person but let me be crystal clear, I do not know the Tate brothers nor do I support them in any way.”

Public unease surrounding the incident stems largely from the Tate brothers’ ongoing legal and reputational controversies. Both Andrew and Tristan Tate have faced investigations across multiple countries.

Reports indicate the brothers have been accused of serious offenses, including r*pe and human trafficking in the United Kingdom, while legal proceedings and investigations have also taken place in Romania. A Romanian court recently lifted certain judicial control measures against Tristan Tate, though investigations into human trafficking allegations remain ongoing. The brothers have consistently denied all wrongdoing.
