Comedian Bobby Lee recently joined Theo Von on the This Past Weekend podcast, where the longtime friends talked about various topics.
During one of the more serious stretches of the conversation, Bobby opened up about his political views and why he usually avoids discussing them publicly.
“I’m a liberal. I’ve always have and always will be. I don’t give a care about no immigration,” Bobby said. Despite making his stance clear, he admitted that politics is normally something he stays away from. “I never talk about politics. Never have, never will. This is the first time I’ve ever brought it up,” he added.
Bobby also praised Theo for speaking openly about larger cultural and political issues, particularly after Theo’s recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience with Joe Rogan.
“I really like what you’re saying about what’s going on…. I agree with you with a lot of these things,” Bobby told Theo.
He continued by specifically referencing Theo’s stance during the Rogan episode and the way he tried to discuss topics surrounding global conflicts and public anxiety.
“You know, I really like, you know, I mean, because I’ve heard your stance on Rogan, your feelings toward, you know, what’s going on, especially in that area of the region,” Bobby said.
Bobby appeared to be referring to Theo’s increasingly emotional and frustrated conversations on Rogan’s podcast, where Theo tried opening up about both personal struggles and concerns about the world.
During that appearance on JRE, Theo questioned whether powerful tech executives truly belong to one political side or simply follow power and financial interests. Referencing figures like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, Theo said, “There’s this other third side that a lot of us can’t see that is just kind of commandeering or fabricating or like infiltrating both sides.”
Rogan appeared noticeably cautious during parts of the exchange, especially when conversations drifted toward topics involving tech influence, media control, and companies like Palantir Technologies. Rather than fully exploring Theo’s concerns, Rogan frequently questioned sources or pivoted away from the deeper implications of the discussion.
Additionally, during the episode, Theo attempted to open up about his depression. “One of my goals is to get off antidepressants completely, man,” Theo said on Rogan’s show. “I want to feel how I’m supposed to feel, so I can have thoughts and actions that make me feel connected to the world. That stuff makes you feel de*d, man.”
Rather than deeply engaging with Theo’s concerns, Rogan often redirected the conversation toward jokes, fitness advice, or comedy club talk. When Theo brought up fears people have about the current state of the world, Rogan responded by suggesting Theo exercise more and spend more time around comedians in Austin.
