Stephen A. Smith Reacts To Kevin Hart Placing Him On Mount Rushmore Of Racism

Stephen A. Smith used his SiriusXM radio show to respond to Kevin Hart placing him on a personal “Mount Rushmore of racism” during Hart’s recent Netflix roast special.

During the roast, Hart joked: “My Mount Rushmore of racism when it comes to hating black people is Shane Gillis, Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Stephen A. Smith. Those are my four people when it comes to ha ting black people.”

Smith explained that he had no idea the joke had been made until hours before his broadcast.

“I swear to you on everything I love, I had absolutely no knowledge, no idea about this until this afternoon,” Smith said. “But when I learned about it, I’m not going to front. It stung.”

Despite admitting the remark bothered him, Smith made it clear he had no interest in attacking Hart in return.

“Anybody expected me to go after Kevin Hart, you got the wrong man,” he said. “I’ve always had a lot of love for him. I will continue to have a lot of love for him. I think he’s a good man and a great comedian who’s highly successful and a good dude.”

Smith added that what surprised him most was the implication behind the joke.

“I was just taken aback by it because obviously it’s the kind of narrative that a few have tried to give the impression that the many feel about me,” he said.

The ESPN personality then connected Hart’s comment to what he described as a larger political effort aimed at discrediting him.

“I know of people who were called by folks in positions of power associated with the Democratic Party for the sole express purpose of silencing me,” Smith claimed.

Smith also pushed back against criticism surrounding his political views and his willingness to question Democratic leadership.

“The people that’s got something to say about other folks’ blackness, what have they done for the community?” Smith said. “Do they walk the streets of America like I do? I walk the streets of America every day. And to be quite honest with you, I get black love everywhere.”

Smith closed the segment by directly referencing Hart’s roast comment once again.

“Kevin Hart’s roast, joke, whatever it was, was just the latest salvo sent in my direction, incited, in my opinion, by a party that wants you to kowtow and march to their every whim,” Smith said. “I’m not built like that. Keep messing with me.”
