It has now been over six years since Bryan Callen‘s career in Hollywood came to a halt following allegations of misconduct published in the Los Angeles Times. And while most people moved on from the story long ago, Callen himself apparently has not. His ongoing gloom has become such a fixture on TFATK podcast that even co-host Brendan Schaub felt the need to address it directly on the show.
In an episode, Schaub laid out exactly how he feels about Callen’s attitude and where things are headed if nothing changes.
“I think the conversation for Bryan would be why are you still doing it? And if it’s just for money, then we should have a talk,” Schaub said. He continued, “It’s the elephant in the room. Bryan’s had some stuff. People go through stuff. You’ve got to move on. Otherwise they won already. If it’s going to affect you every day, and now it’s become this dark cloud on us too, buddy, then we got to stop doing the show.”
Schaub’s producer Chin also made clear that Callen is not the only person connected to the podcast who has dealt with difficult circumstances, pointing out that others have managed to shake it off and keep going.
“It’s not just Bryan though. The people on the show have been through stuff. It’s not just Bryan. There’s been other things that have happened here as well. So we get over it,” Chin said.
He went on to explain that the cast has repeatedly urged Callen to let go of the past, but that ultimately the responsibility falls on Callen himself. “We tell Bryan all the time, let go, that was then. Nothing crazy, no one’s thinking about you that way every single day. We tell him all the time. It’s up to Bryan to change that part of the way he thinks. And I don’t know how to change that.”
Schaub then put forth a number on how long this has been going on. “Chin, it was 5 years ago, buddy. I know people that get over their loved ones passing away faster than this. 5 years?”
He wrapped up his assessment by stating, “I’m more realistic, but I’m also okay. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out.”
