Serial killer ‘Hannibal the Cannibal’ is on a hunger strike in prison over losing his Playstation console

One of Britain’s most notorious serial killers, Robert Maudsley, has embarked on a hunger strike after prison authorities confiscated his PlayStation gaming console.

Maudsley, 74, who holds the world record for the longest time spent in solitary confinement at approximately 46 years, has refused to eat until his gaming privileges are restored, according to his brother Paul Maudsley.

The incident occurred following a recent “operational exercise” at the facility, where guards were searching for a reportedly smuggled firearm. “Bob’s section was out for a couple of days,” Paul told Mirror UK. “Bob complained and he’s normally polite, but the prison officers accused him of being abusive.”

Upon returning to his cell, Maudsley discovered that guards had removed his “TV, PlayStation, books, and radio.” His brother recounted their last conversation, where Bob stated, “I’m going on hunger strike so don’t be surprised if this is the last time I call you.”

These entertainment devices were crucial to Maudsley’s daily routine, with Paul explaining that his brother spent his time “playing war games and chess on his PlayStation and always watching old films on TV and reading factual books.”

Maudsley was initially imprisoned at age 21 with a life sentence for a double murder. Four years into his incarceration, he killed three fellow inmates who were allegedly child rapists and pedophiles. This led to his placement in solitary confinement, where he has remained ever since, earning him the designation as Britain’s most dangerous inmate.

The serial killer, sometimes referred to as ‘Hannibal the Cannibal,’ has used various forms of entertainment, including books, television, and video games, to maintain his mental well-being during his decades-long isolation, according to his brother’s account.
